The Directorate of Road Traffic Services has asserted that putting up/pasting the ‘For Sale’ sign on moving vehicles is a violation of the law.
Mr Kalu Emetu, the Directorate’s Public Relations Officer, in an interview on Sunday, noted that a lot of vehicles have already been impounded because of the form of marketing in the city without authorization.
Ideally, when you put a ‘For Sale’ sign in your car, you should have paid for advertising and other fees, otherwise it is safer to arrange with an authorized dealer to sell your car on your behalf.
Such violation attracts a fine between N25, 000 to N50, 000. Any impounded vehicle will be kept until fine has been paid and a repetition of such act may attract an arrest.
